Forming in 2022, GONDOLAS have made storms across the Northwest music scene, becoming a fan favourite and making regular appearances at a variety of local gigs and festivals. This 5-piece garage indie punk band is based in Liverpool, is massively established and well worth a listen.

The five members of GONDOLAS include Ben (V&RG), Luke (Drums), Chris (LG), Nick, (KB & BV) and Tim (Bass).

Chris and Ben are brothers, so have [obviously] known each other for life, but how did the rest of the members meet? Nick is from South Carolina and happens to be Chris and Ben’s cousin, meeting them for the first time after they’d finished high school. Later at University, Ben and Tim met, became friends and have been ever since. Luke and Ben met through teaching guitar together for the last year and a half.

Working for the last four years. GONDOLAS have goals to reach a wider audience and to continue releasing music and performing. This focus leads into a desire to eventually tour the UK and beyond, whilst maintaining the grind of grabbing support slots to eventually reach their goal. Live performing is the favourite part of music for GONDOLAS, followed by releasing more music, which is, hopefully, soon to come. 

Something GONDOLAS want their fans to know is that they all absolutely adore the work they do and the joy you see on stage is all very real! Each project is a true shared collaboration between the band and an authentic result of a shared passion.

As with any band, GONDOLAS have had to face challenges as they develop, needing to overcome these in order to progress. Some of these challenges include nailing down a specific sound while also leaving room for experimentation and potential style shifts. Motivation can also be a struggle, especially with the pressures surrounding the industry and with the amount of work that needs to be maintained to ensure industry recognition.

So why do GONDOLAS make music? Beyond a shared love and appreciation for the art of music, they have all always loved it. For them, it’s been the most effective creative outlet and a great way to achieve a level of catharsis. Building a community and being able to share their work is also why they keep pushing through an industry no longer designed for working bands.
